Deb Parsons
Owner/Operator
Aquila Acres is the real life version of a childhood dream, which was to live on a property and share the space with a variety of wild and domestic critters.
An animal lover, turned teacher, turned to the creatures, to be the teachers.
Having been a teacher in primary schools over 35 years, I was looking for a way to combine my skills and passions of connecting with kids and critters.
Training with EAGALA [ Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association ] led to offering programs where interacting with horses was not only fun, but could have the added bonus of unraveling and developing an individual's personal skills and needs.
The rewards and benefits of connecting with horses are accessible to ANYONE, regardless of age, abilities, experience or needs.
The horses and ponies have something special to show people. With their honesty and spontaneous reflection, there is the opportunity to discover more of ourselves.
So living the dream includes living with a growing menagerie and sharing the joy of encounters with critters.
Ian Parsons
Owner/Property Creator
Ian, a builder by trade has helped create and bring the vision of Aquila Acres to life. Throughout the property, you will see his unique style in the sheds and buildings that are used in the day to day runnings of the farm.
Amy Walton
Farm Hand
Amy has been a part of the Aquila Acres journey for over 7 years. She started out with a group of friends coming for pony play, and then slowly became more and more involved with the care of the ponies and running of programs. If you come and stay or become a regular with some programs, there is no doubt you will see her face around the place, cleaning paddocks, helping Deb or doing things with the horses. Amy is the proud owner of the little black mini William and loves spending time with all of the horses.
Malakai
Welcoming Committee
Malakai is the big bundle of joy who will race up to meet all of his guests! If you come and visit, there is no way you will miss out on meeting him, he likes to be the center of attention. He may seem intimidating however he is the sweetest dog you'll ever meet! His favourite game to play is the ball game, he has balls lying all around the property and will always find one and try to get you to play along. He is only a puppy so can sometimes forget his manners and jump up but it is only in puppy joy.
Mila
Farm Queen
Mila, the farm cat, who prefers to be referred to as the farm queen, rules the property. she wanders between sheds on the property, keeping things under control and most importantly, keeping away from that annoying dog Malakai. Her favourite place to nap is the hay shed, a place where Malakai cannot freely enter. She is very shy towards new people and prefers her guests to admire her from a distance, that is if she lets you see her.
